Melbourne’s favourite taqueria CDMX comes to Sydney
Melbourne’s CDMX is coming to Sydney for a one-week only pop-up from 11-16 June (2024) in collaboration with Taqiza Bondi.
Hailed by lovers of authentic Mexican street food as the best taqueria in the southern city, CDMX, which is short for Ciudad de Mexico or Mexico City, has gone from taco cart to cantina in just a few years, and is most famous for its mouth-watering birria taco.
Sydneysiders can look forward to the CDMX award winning birria tacos – a grilled corn tortilla filled with birria-braised beef brisket, salsa, coriander, onion and melted cheese, and served with a birria consommé, plus a curated selection of other popular items such as Al Pastor, Pescado and Chicharron Norteno.
The mouth-watering Pescado: Beer battered crispy barramundi
The Vegan Al Pastor: Grilled marinated shiitake mushroom
Owner Beatrice Nacor will join Head Chef Marc Cruz and chefs Tashi Wangyel and Ritchie Abellanosa for the pop-up, where she says she is looking forward to seeing some of the familiar Sydney faces who have dined with CDMX at one of their two sites, in Melbourne Central and Brunswick East.
“We’re excited to be partnering with Taqiza and Milpa Collective for our first interstate kitchen takeover. I’ve always wanted to grow the national footprint of CDMX, and the Sydney pop-up makes the perfect first step to it,” says Nacor. She hints that a Sydney location could also be on the cards.
