BBC’s Pride and Prejudice, based on Jane Austen’s most famous novel, is a classic tale of 18th century life among the English gentry and the dramatic courtships of the very eligible Bennet girls set against a society obsessed by profitable marriage contracts.
When the wealthy and aloof Mr Darcy insults Elizabeth Bennet at a dance, an attraction is instantly sparked. Meanwhile her flirtatious younger sister Lydia becomes involved in a scandal that threatens to jeopardise family beauty Jane’s chances with a gentleman presumed out of her league.
Shot on location in the beautiful English countryside this remastered production stars Elizabeth Garvie, David Rintoul and is directed by Cyril Coke from an adaptation by Fay Weldon.
