Award winning journalist Steven Kotler’s The Rise of Superman, looks at the mental discipline it takes to pursue extreme sports. He explores an idea that he has coined called “flow” which he classifies as the optimal state of consciousness. It’s something we all seek to attain, in our personal and professional livesm but few rarely do as it often takes an unnatural situation, like big mountain snowboarding for example to reach what is actually natural state of the mind.
