After your 2pm check-in, head up to your room to check out the hotel’s interiors which preserve the property’s original art deco architecture, and draw cues from its St Kilda beachside location. Thoughtfully designed from the custom furniture to the privately commissioned photography, the universally appealing guest rooms are a place of quiet tranquillity amongst the charismatic chaos of St Kilda.
Featuring a variety of rooms to suit your budget, rooms are equipped with a Smart TV for your relaxation, speakers so you can connect your device via Bluetooth and listen to your favourite music, dimmable lights, air conditioning/heating, an in-room telephone which can also be used to charge your phone, and all the other usual amenities one would expect such as a refrigerator, electric kettle, safety deposit box and more.
If you like a larger room, then the Deluxe Room with Bath or Premier Suite are the ones to book offering more space, a king size bed and a relaxing bath. Or if you like to keep it simple, the Boutique Room will do the job offering a double bed, ensuite and lots of natural light.
But the fun doesn’t end there. Once you’re settled in, head down to the recently opened Prince Dining Room for a delicious meal. Inspired by the glamour and grime of St Kilda and its eclectic history, the space is bright and filled with custom furniture. An elliptical blackened steel bar forms the centrepiece of the bar space. In the main dining room, fibreglass partitions contrast with luxurious banquette sofas providing soft curvature inspired by the Art Deco era. Italian marble, onyx and American oak tables fill the room alongside metal, wooden and wrought iron chairs commissioned from Melbourne and Italian artisans.
The menu is designed to share and inspired by flavours and spices from the Mediterranean rim. Humble vegetable and side dishes are heroed in equal measure to main plates, resulting in a light contemporary fare featuring the freshest seasonal ingredients. Sourced from local markets, the St Kilda Veg Out garden and a personally curated network of regional growers, producers and fishermen, each ingredient is selected with a predetermined purpose in mind, a seasonal value and a local significance.
For an entree, try the Heritage carrots, carrot top harissa, za’atar seeds or the Brussel sprouts, sesame, chilli – absolutely delectable! For something more substantial, you won’t go wrong with the Yellow fish curry, coconut, coriander or the Grilled ‘market fish,’ spiced cucumber, harissa butter. Trust us, the food here is simply divine.
Afterwards, head to the Prince Bandroom to check out some live music and then retire back to your room for a relaxing end to the evening. We told you – you don’t even need to step outside for an enjoyable night.
