The Civic Hotel has launched its new menu at a special interactive Chef’s Table event held on 17th August.
Guests were treated to an evening of heart-warming cuisine from the new menu, presented by the Head Chef, David Tsirekas.
To start the night, guests sampled dishes from the meze board which included tarama, eggplant, dolmathes, spinach pie, marinated olives, and zucchini chips which were served with traditional Greek ouzo.
For the next course, David shared his mini yeeros dishes. The selection included Athenian duck, pork belly and soft shell crab which were all served with Vulkan Santorini Blonde Beer or Alpha Estate Malagouzia.
For the main course, the dishes included lamb shoulder and mushroom truffle moussaka, which was complemented with Alpha Estate SMX.
The menu combines elements of pub food and elements of casual dining to create a new type of dining experience. “We have moved away from the $10 steak and are passionate about offering better quality food while remaining mindful of budgets,” says David Tsirekas. “Who’s to say you can’t have restaurant quality dining in local pubs? We are growing and evolving our offerings in line with the general foodie scene in Sydney.”
David also gave an exclusive sneak peek into the fine-dining establishment 1821 sharing one of its signature dishes and matching wine for the very first time. Guests were delighted with the Aegean lobster spaghetti, which was served with Biblio Chora Biblinos (Ancient Phonecian Cult Wine).
1821 will be opening in late September but in the meantime, head on down to the Civic and check out the new menu (open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 2am).
