By day, it’s a sun-drenched hideaway serving specialty coffee, flaky pastries, and savoury and sweet crepes. By night, the lights dim, the playlist deepens, and the venue transforms into a moody restaurant-bar where share plates, creative cocktails, and a relaxed energy take centre stage.
The Bungalow Petersham has just launched its new summer menu, bringing bright, vibrant flavours – all designed to shine during the venue’s signature Golden Hour (they close between 2-5:30pm daily for their signature Golden Hour Flip – a reset that marks the shift from calm daylight to warm, moody evenings).
The menu draws inspiration from across the globe, uniting fresh, seasonal ingredients with an ‘all is welcome’ approach. Diners can expect colourful share plates, seafood with flair, and modern comfort food that feels both familiar and adventurous.
Mornings start sunnier with dishes like the classic Acai Bowl, delightful Eggs Benedict, vivacious Mediterranean Shakshuka and the creamy Smashed Avo with tangy feta and cherry tomatoes on warm sourdough, topped with your choice of eggs and a vibrant beetroot hummus. Fresh, healthy and packed full of flavour!
Other brunch favourites include the traditional English Breakfast, a selection of sweet and savoury crepes, the hero Chilli Crab Omelette – where fluffy eggs wrap sweet crab, fresh herbs, and a subtle chilli kick – and the absolutely delectable Golden Pancakes drizzled with fragrant honey, topped with house-made berry compote and a cascade of seasonal fresh berries. Light, fluffy and irresistibly delicious!
At night, The Bungalow comes alive with summer flavours such as the Tropical Papaya Salad which brings together raw papaya, green mango, lime, and sweet chilli together in a vibrant tangle topped with roasted peanuts. The Warm Garlic Butter Lobster Rolls are another highlight, nestled in toasted brioche, and served with salt & vinegar chips for the perfect salty crunch, while the Baja Fish Tacos bring golden, beer-battered barramundi with tangy tartar, fresh slaw, and a squeeze of lime. Each bite carries the essence of summer, paired perfectly with the warmth of the setting sun.
Wash it all down with a fine selection of tropical-inspired cocktails – such as the refreshing Pina Passion Sour or Pineapple Ginger Daiquiri – as well as an assortment of flavoursome wines and crisp beers. They do a pretty decent coffee or juice for breakfast as well – the perfect way to start the day!
