Where To Dine This Valentine’s Day
This Valentine’s Day, The Star Sydney is turning up the romance with three swoon-worthy set menus across Sokyo, BLACK Bar & Grill and Cucina Porto.
At Sokyo, Executive Chef Daniel Kwak presents “Love in Bloom: A Night of Elegant Intimacy” ($180pp), a refined Valentine’s experience that celebrates romance through subtle detail, premium produce and a menu designed to be shared. The evening unfolds as a five to six course tasting menu, taking diners through seasonal seafood, wagyu and delicate desserts, with a standout hero dish in the unagi tempura served with Sokyo’s signature tempura sauce.
For couples who like their romance with a little more fire, BLACK Bar & Grill brings the heat with “Flame & Elegance” ($180pp), curated by Executive Chef Insup Kim. The four course menu balances bold flavours and elevated steakhouse indulgence, pairing premium steak with seafood and a decadent finish. Highlights include the playful Berkshire pork donut with peach and plum vinaigrette, and the richly marbled Wagyu flank 9+ finished with café de paris butter.
Over at Cucina Porto, Chef Martino Pulito sets the tone for a long, romantic dinner with “Love in every Bubble” ($89pp), a share-style Italian menu inspired by Italian passion, refined presentation and warm Pugliese hospitality. It begins with Pacific oysters with white balsamic and chives (with the option to add a glass of Ferrari D.O.C. for $17), before moving into share-style antipasti including house beer focaccia, citrus-cured New Zealand king salmon, flank steak carpaccio and polenta crisp with gorgonzola and pecorino cream. Shared mains follow – spinach, pumpkin and ricotta cannelloni and grilled stuffed calamari filled with prawns in cherry tomato sauce – finished with a chocolate and passionfruit tart with mascarpone and honey cream. This Valentine’s Day, waterfront venue Rasā House is hosting a set share menu for lunch and dinner on Friday, February 14, taking diners on a journey through Rasā’s signature Southeast Asian flavours. Valentine’s Day set menu highlights include: Kingfish kinilaw, Filipino-style ceviche with ginger, lemon, onion and coconut milk; Prawn katsu bao; Homemade crab-stuffed momos with lemongrass, kaffir leaf and lime; Steamed blue eye cod sambal, wrapped in banana leaves and presented at the table; Watermelon salad with nam jim seafood dressing; and Pistachio saffron ice cream sandwich to finish. Asian Fusion fine dining restaurant Toki are also joining in on the fun and will be offering a five-course Valentine’s Day tasting menu (from 7 February to 14 February), with a complimentary sparkling wine or cocktail on arrival. Scallop Crudo, Spiny Lobster Pasta, and Flat Iron Steak with Truffle Jus are some of the dishes to look forward to.
