Viva Italia: Vivid Celebrations at Pizzeria Da Michele

Vivid Sydney has just kicked off its 16th year giving both locals and visitors a unique opportunity to experience Sydney in a whole new light.

Kicking off their own celebrations for Vivid is L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele – the legendary Neapolitan pizzeria located on Pitt Street near Circular Quay.

For the first time since opening, Da Michele have created a new pizza special inspired by Vivid’s vibrant colours. Bringing together traditional Neapolitan ingredients with a bright, contemporary twist, the Vivid Neapolitan Pizza Special features Agerola fiordilatte, lemon zest flavoured ricotta, mortadella, zucchini flower salad, yellow datterino tomatoes, and a drizzle of Primitivo reduction.

The pizza special is $35 – with the option to add on a 500ml pour of draught Peroni for an extra $10 – making it an excellent dining choice just footsteps away from all the Vivid action. Da Michele will be lit in bold Italian red, green and white lighting inside and outside the venue, bringing the spirit of Napoli to Sydney for the festival.

The famous L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele, the original Naples pizzeria further immortalised by Julia Roberts in ‘Eat Pray Love’, only recently opened its first Australian restaurant in Sydney. Since 1870, Da Michele has built its name on simplicity, tradition and excellence. The original Naples shop is widely regarded as the global benchmark for true pizza, and still family-owned by the founder’s descendants.

Bringing Da Michele to Australia has been a passion project years in the making. Every element, from imported Italian tomatoes and Agerola Fiordilatte cheese, to specialist equipment and tools, has been meticulously sourced from Naples to guarantee authenticity.

From the moment guests step inside, they’re transported to Naples with hand-stretched dough, perfectly blistered crusts, and the unmistakable aroma of Italian food. The menu highlights Da Michele’s iconic Margherita and Marinara, along with a selection of antipasti, pastas and desserts that reflect the genuine soul of Naples.

With Vivid taking place until 13 June 2026, the ‘Viva Italia’ Vivid Celebrations at Da Michele are well worth checking out. With late-night trading every night, you can drop in before or after exploring Vivid Sydney.
