Try D.I.Y: Bunnings x Messina’s Sausage Sizzle Gelato

A sausage sizzle gelato? Yes, really.

On Thursday 5 November 2026, Bunnings Gladesville is hosting Try D.I.Y., a free night of hands-on workshops for first-timers.

To mark it, Messina has created The Sweet Sizzle: burnt butter brioche gelato with passionfruit “mustard”, strawberry “tomato sauce” and chunks of fried white bread. It’s available for one night only, alongside a free snag.

Guests can learn to use a drill with Ryobi, race the pros in a Selleys caulk-and-patch challenge, pick up painting tips from Dulux (the Dulux dog will be there), pot a plant with Yates, and earn their own “licence to D.I.Y.”. There’s also a DJ, a photobooth and giveaways.

Michelle Walter, Bunnings Head of Community, Partnerships and Events, said: “We know getting started with D.I.Y. can feel daunting. We want to give young adults a chance to have a go, ask questions and build the confidence to tackle little jobs around their home.

“Try D.I.Y. is about making that first step easy and fun. Bring a mate, pick up some practical skills and enjoy a snag and a scoop of our exclusive Bunnings x Messina ‘Sweet Sizzle’ gelato flavour.”
