Esteemed Hunter Valley wine producer Hungerford Hill has jumped onboard to collaborate with the latest event in town, ‘Blind Tasting’. Combining the sensory pleasures of theatrical performance and wine, ‘Blind Tasting’ is a unique and quirky one-woman contemporary show best described as ‘part performance/part wine-tasting’ – two of life’s greatest artistic indulgences entwined.
On Thursday 17th October this critically acclaimed show will be brought to the College of Fine Arts (COFA), following on from a sold-out season earlier in the year at The Ensemble Theatre in Kirribilli in addition to sold-out seasons at the 2012 Adelaide and Melbourne Fringe festivals.
Thoughtfully written and directed by Paul Gilchrist, ‘Blind Tasting’ is a tale of wit, whimsy and heartbreak all centred around wine and told by the captivating and highly accomplished Australian actress Sylvia Keays as ‘Sophie’. Join her hilarious razor-sharp discovery of the unexpected truth hidden in each glass. Sydney Morning Herald wine writer Huon Hooke raves that it’s a “Corker of a performance…a barrel of fun…performed with great vitality and charm by Sylvia Keays…I recommend you go.”
‘Blind Tasting’ is far from the traditional theatre experience and is perfectly matched to the equally praised Hungerford Hill wines with a 6pm tasting before the curtain opens for a 7pm performance.
Successfully producing some of the Hunter Valley’s finest wines since 1971, Hungerford Hill has become a stand-out name as a leading boutique NSW producer. Recently receiving “NSW Wine of the Year” for their Hunter Valley Shiraz at the Citibank NSW Wine Awards as well as “Chardonnay of the Year” and “Runner Up Wine of the Year” at the 2012 Winestate Wine of the Year Awards, all of these renowned Hungerford Hill specialties will be available for you to taste before the performance.
As a sponsor of the College of Fine Arts (COFA), Hungerford Hill saw this collaboration as an opportunity to support aspiring young Australians in the creative industry and to showcase Hungerford Hill’s performance in wine to a discerning audience.
