Comedy at The Star

The first of a monthly series of laughter-filled evenings will premiere at The Star on Thursday 25 July. The regular, live stand-up events will feature an impressive array of Australia’s best and brightest comedy talent, at The Star’s live entertainment venue, Rock Lily, offering Sydney’s ever-growing audience of comedy enthusiasts a new option – all for no cover charge.

Renowned funny man and TV presenter, Cameron Knight, will host the evenings, and has worked with The Star to line up some of Sydney’s hottest comedy performers for the program.  Knight is also known as the ‘king of absurd’ from The Comedy Channel’s acclaimed show, Stand Up Australia.

Popular comedians Ben Ellwood, Chris Wainhouse and Akmal Saleh will take to the stage for the inaugural event on Thursday 25 July from 7pm, with each comedian delivering a full set.

TV & radio regular, Ben Ellwood is the star of award-winning play “The Hideous Demise of Detective Slate”, while the witty and irreverent Chris Wainhouse is one of Australia’s best known stand-ups.

The hilarious line-up will be headlined by Akmal Saleh, one of Australia’s most accomplished and successful comics, who brings his knack for tapping into the hottest topics in the most hilarious way.

Anyone wanting to fully experience all that The Star, Sydney’s premium entertainment destination, has to offer, can hit the Cafe Court or signature restaurants, before enjoying an evening of free laughs at the newest live comedy venue in Sydney.

Rock Lily doors open at 5pm with no cover charge; entry will operate on a first in, best dressed basis.
