Eros Sydney: Mykonos-inspired destination opens in Potts Point
Sydneysiders no longer need to jump on a plane to experience the Mykonos lifestyle. Eros is a new Greek-inspired lounge bar that has just opened up in Sydney.
Located at the site of the old Bayswater Brasserie, the new hot-spot features Mykonos-style bottle service, traditional Greek meze plates and personal lamb spit at your table.
As soon as you set foot inside, you’re almost instantly transported to the Greek Islands with its whitewashed stone interiors, curved archways and wall cut outs with receptacles decorated in traditional style ceramics. The open plan venue, where the lounge flows through to the bar and into the dancefloor, allows the energy and vibes to move freely through the space. The highlight comes by way of the skylit back bar and courtyard, where a grotto-like enclave effect frames the DJ decks and booths, topped with a spectacular ceiling of melted candle wax.
When it comes to the menu, you’re in for a real treat with the classic Greek meze style dishes which make for a great starter on your night out. There’s Spanakopita Fingers ($15), the absolutely delicious Chargrilled Halloumi with oregano, lemon, chili and honey ($20), the delectably crunchy Fried Squid topped with garlic, parsley and lemon ($20) and the heavenly Watermelon & Ouzo Salad ($18) which is just so refreshing on a warm Sydney day.
For something more substantial, the Kreata tops our list as the best option – a combination of lamb, chicken and kofta’s served on skewers with a side of pita bread, beer battered chips, and Grecian Salad ($40). You just cannot go wrong with all that delicousness in front of you. Diners are even welcome to construct their own souvlakis from the spread while gluten-free diners can choose a simple Chargrilled Mixed Meat platter with a side of Greek Salad.
For the seafood lovers, a Seafood Platter can be ordered for $199, with a ‘fruits of the sea’ style array of Oysters, Moreton Bay bugs and WA lobster tails accompanied by an ouzo-dressed Greek Salad. Impress your friends and light up the ‘gram with a personal whole pig or lamb spit at your table for $90 per person (minimum of 15 people), served with Greek salad, pita bread and Greek cut chips.
For dessert, their Grecian Donuts are a must-try – cooked to perfection and topped with honey and hazelnuts ($15). Then wash it all down with one of their impressive cocktails. Highlights include Apollo (a citrusy blend of Patron Tequila, Orange Juice, Triple Sec and Basil), Aphrodite (with floral notes of Grey Goose Vodka, Rosewater, Strawberries and Rosemary), Eros Chaplin (made with Sloe Gin, Peach Liqueur, Fig liqueur and pressed lime) and the Ouzo Coffee Martini (a Greek twist on the Espresso Martini made with Ouzo Meltemi, Kahlua and Little Drippa).
Eros is a great new lounge bar/eatery (and late night drinking destination) where Sydneysiders can enjoy Greek meze, playful cocktails and bottle service, then party the night away until the early hours. Highly recommended!
