Galway Pipe, the leading Australian producer of fortified wines, has triumphed at the prestigious Frankfurt International Trophy 2024. With over 2,550 wines tasted from nearly 30 countries, Galway Pipe clinched two significant awards highlighting their commitment to excellence and heritage.
Galway Pipe Bourbon Barrel Tawny 10 YO was awarded the title of Best Wine from Australia in the competition, a significant accolade given the fiercely competitive category. Additionally, the Galway Pipe Grand Tawny 12 YO received the Grand Gold award, further solidifying the winemaker’s position as a leader in the production of exceptional Tawny wines.

Galway Pipe Bourbon Barrel Tawny 10 YO – Complex flavours on the palate such as caramel, vanilla, fruitcake, and an abundance of sweet spice notes. The small format barrel has a profound influence, amplifying the tawny’s character with exotic bourbon notes: delicate interplay of charred wood, rye, and toasted malt characters emerge, entwining harmoniously with the tawny’s essence to create a perfect union.
Galway Pipe Grand Tawny 12 YO – Aged in oak barrels for an average of 12 years, this exquisite, rich blend of character-filled grape varieties. A complex flavour profile of raisins, dried pears, grilled nuts and spicy oak. The palate is balanced with levels of sweetness and acidity, perfectly crafted and aged, ready to drink.
Galway Pipe Rum Barrel Tawny 15 YO – From carefully selected parcels, this tawny is matured in barrels for 15 years, followed by a final finish in award-winning Australian Beenleigh Rum barrels. The exceptional small batch of fifteen-year-old tawny boasts superb, dried fruit aromas and rum character, giving notes of sweet spices, coconut, clove and vanilla. Complemented by a palate of dried fig, roasted nuts and molasses character leaving a warming richness.
Galway Pipe Rare Tawny 25 YO – Fermented and aged in oak for an average of 25 years this wine is a deep tawny colour. It has a layered aroma of raisins, grilled nuts and fruit cake. The palate is defined by rich and intricate complexity with pronounced flavours of caramelised toffee, dried fruit and vanillin oak, finishing with immense length and intensity.
