Lot. One, Potts Point
The Sydney lockout laws may have stifled the nightclub industry around Kings Cross but some of the area’s cafes and restaurants are thriving. The once red-light capital of Australia is still a hive of activity surrounded by great restaurants such as Lot. One in Potts Point.
Lot. One offers a modern take on Australian food fused with hearty Mediterranean flavours. Head chef and co-owner Xenia Jade has revamped the menu injecting fresh combinations of classic clean flavours into the area. And it seems to be a hit with locals who are loving the restaurant’s slight twists to simple dishes.
Delectable starter options include Arancini, Quail Lollipops, Charcuterie Board, Duck Liver Parfait, Bean & Lentil Salad and Whole Squid. On our recent visit, we gave the Soft Shell Crab a try and certainly weren’t disappointed. With green curry mayonnaise, chilli and lime, it was delightfully crispy and deliciously spicy all at once.
If you like it raw, then you might like to start with Oysters or Diced Lamb but our pick is the Barramundi. Coming with honeydew melon, olives, jalapeno and coriander, this one is so beautifully presented with the barramundi sliced finely to perfection. We found it to be light, cool and incredibly refreshing.
More substantial options include the Pork Neck, Market Fish, Sirloin, Half Duck, Lamb Shoulder and Cauliflower Steak. But our favourite would have to be between the Nettle Tagliatelle with pesto, mushroom, manchego and pine nuts (luscious, highly nutritious and vegetarian too) and Spaghettini In Brodo with squid ink pasta, shellfish broth, vongole, seasonal seafood and native succulents (an absolutely delicious mix of seafood in a dramatic black pasta).
And if that wasn’t enough, the dessert menu offering is something else. While there are a plethora of wines and cocktails to enjoy, the ‘sweet’ options had us licking our lips. Based on four chocolate bars (Ferrero Rocher, Bounty, Snickers, Turkish Delight), it’s quite a unique concept which we haven’t witnessed before. It’s a tough choice deciding between the four but the Ferrero Rocher is simply outstanding. It is truly art on a plate and one of the most insta-worthy desserts you’ll see. We completely licked the plate clean which can only confirm, it’s as good as it looks.
With its amazing food made with passion and care, cool vibe, and fantastic-looking bar, make sure to head to Lot. One for a good night out in Potts Point.
