New Brunch Hotspot Alert: The Rusty Rabbit opens in Concord
The Rusty Rabbit is a beloved local institution in Darlinghurst. The playful cafe with its quirky rabbit motif even has a merch line – a testament to the strong community following they’ve built. The Rusty Rabbit is now bringing its signature brunch-with-bite, warm hospitality and playful personality to a brand-new space in Concord.
Capturing the same cheeky energy and strong sense of community, they’re opening their doors with a little extra flair. Out the back, they’re launching a pop-up space dedicated to partnering with local brands, supporting small businesses, and injecting even more of their playful vibes into the space.
Out front is where you can indulge in their tasty food offerings with everything from the popular Breaky Burger to Steak & Eggs, Sweet Potato Fritter and the outstanding Dukkah Avo. The dukkah adds a delightful crunch to the creamy avocado alongside whipped feta, cherry tomatoes, pomegranate, pickled onion and a poached egg. So delicious and our top brunch pick!
Other breakfast highlights include the Breakfast Wrap, Acai Granola Bowl, Wasabi Salmon and the highly satisfying Champ Bowl which includes harissa hummus with avocado, poached eggs, grilled chicken, kale, cherry tomatoes, dukkah and pickled cabbage. Colourful, filling and totally scrumptious – a definite crowd-pleaser!
For lunch, there are burgers, tacos, healthy bowls, and yummy wraps to dig into. Or if you prefer a late breakfast like us, you can order from the breakfast menu too. For something sweet, you’ve got to try their Pancakes with ricotta topped with strawberries, berry compote, passionfruit, crushed pistachios and maple syrup. Light, fluffy and just bursting with flavour!
The Rusty Rabbit’s Concord opening is s more than just another café for brothers Josh and Jamesray Khoury. Back in 2017, they opened a Rusty Rabbit in Burwood, hoping to bring their signature style to the Inner West. But COVID hit hard. The café quietly closed before it had the chance to grow into what they had envisioned.
“Concord is our second shot,” says Josh. “It’s a redemption story and a homecoming all in one.” With its friendly village feel and strong sense of community, Concord reminds them of Darlinghurst in the early days. It’s full of potential and charm. But this time, they’re not the wide-eyed newcomers.
With its divine food, lovely atmosphere, and attentive friendly staff, The Rusty Rabbit brings a fresh energy to the Inner West dining scene.
