Opera Bar & Daisy’s Naughty Milk Bar Pop-Up
From Saturday March 31-Monday April 2 (2018), Sydney’s iconic Opera Bar will collaborate with inner-west favourite Daisy’s Milkbar to create a naughtier version of the much-loved Aussie milk bars from the past.
A pocket of Opera Bar will be completely transformed; with pastel booths and playful design features bringing the milk bar to life. Daisy’s favourites such as giant ice creams, gumball machines and vintage milk bar paraphernalia will complete the pop-up space.
The fun, interactive event will corrupt everyone’s favourite childhood refreshments; with a boozy version of Cottee’s cordial and a spiked Milo milkshake. Classic desserts aren’t safe either; the Pavlova Colada is a hybrid dessert-cocktail with Bacardi, pineapple, lime, coconut, passionfruit and meringue. “I’m still pinching myself that our little cafe in Petersham will be harbourside for the long weekend at Sydney’s most iconic bar” says Daisy’s owner, Jessica Barnes.
There will be plenty on offer for those with an extra sweet-tooth including desserts such as trifle, banana splits and soft serve loaded with Easter eggs will surely satisfy the cravings. Loose coins can be used on shop counter goodies including original childhood favourites like fairy bread, chocolate crackles and lamingtons. The classic milk bar burger will also get a revival, along with the nostalgic deli plates of Jatz with olives, cheese & cabanossi.
Limited pre-purchase tickets for the ‘Naughty Combo’ are on offer and include a snack, such as a jaffle, sausage roll or mac & cheese, plus a cocktail and a soft serve. Other activities scheduled across the weekend will include lolly guessing competitions, arcade games, Easter show bags, board game tournaments and lucky dips.
