SoCal’s 7th Annual Taco & Tequila Fiesta
SoCal’s Taco & Tequila Fiesta is back this May! From 5-26 May 2024, they’re serving up a month-long celebration that’s sure to add some spice to your life.
Enjoy a variety of exciting events including their famous chilli eating contest, Mexican dinner and show, and a Sunday session you won’t forget. Check out the lineup of events below, how to snag $15 margies and get ready to fiesta!
5 MAY – CINCO DE MAYO LAUNCH PARTY:
Kick off Taco & Tequila month with a legendary Sunday session. Get ready to dive into a day of fun as SoCal is transformed into the ultimate party destination – with live music, $15 margaritas, epic tacos, and good vibes all day long.
But that’s not all – they’re pulling out all the stops to ensure this Sunday session is one for the books. From 1pm to 4pm, treat yourself to the tunes of a live acoustic duo, serenading you with party anthems guaranteed to get you moving. As the afternoon heats up, a DJ will take the stage, keeping the energy high and the dance floor packed. And just when you think the party couldn’t get any better, prepare for a surprise appearance by a lively Mariachi band, adding an extra dose of Mexican flare – Arriba, Arriba! More info.
9 & 23 MAY – TASTE OF MEXICO, DINNER & A SHOW:
For two nights during the fiesta, SoCal are hosting an evening that will transport you to Mexico. Gather your friends as you enjoy a bespoke banquet curated by Head Chef Joel Doyle with a margarita on arrival all while being entertained by a live Mexican dancing show. Gather your fiesta crew and make a booking!
Package: $79 per person – includes feast menu, arrival margarita + dessert
Booking Times: Between 6pm – 7pm – 2.5 hour sitting
Terms & Conditions: Minimum 2 people per booking.

16 MAY – CHILLI EATING CONTEST:
SoCal’s highly anticipated chilli eating contest is running for its 7th consecutive year and is a highlight of the Taco & Tequila Fiesta. From mild jalapeños to fiery Carolina Reapers, the spice levels are reaching new heights, and the flames are ready to be unleashed. Whether you’re a reigning champ, newbie, or secret fire dragon, they welcome everyone to register to compete! There are limited seats, so it’ll be based on first come, first served.
Earlier this year, SoCal hosted an ‘All Stars’ contest, and two-time consecutive winner Carlos was the last one to break a sweat, chowing down on a whopping combination of five Carolina Reapers and yellow habañeros, proving why he was deserving of the ultimate chilli champion title. Will you be the next winner to beat Carlos and take the crown?!
If you’re keen to compete on Thursday May 16th, register your details on the website and they’ll be in touch to confirm your spot. Spectators are invited to join from 5pm – 6:30pm to enjoy Happy Hour, which includes $4 tacos and $15 Olmeca ALTOS spicy margaritas, and the show will start from 7pm. Make sure to make a booking early and secure a good viewing table! More info.
TACO SHOWDOWN:
SoCal are hosting the ultimate taco showdown as part of the Taco & Tequila fiesta, encouraging you to submit your taco creation for the chance to win! Get ready for a battle of flavours where your taco creation could take centre stage on the menu during the Fiesta celebration! Plus if your taco sells the most, you’ll WIN a $100 dining voucher to spend at SoCal.
