The Golden Pod captures the essence of Willie’s Cacao. The pod itself represents the fact that ‘bean to bar’ pioneer Willie Harcourt-Cooze make all his chocolate from the bean. It is all about purity of flavour with the only ingredients being cacao, raw cane sugar and natural cocoa butter – no vanilla or soya lecithin . The tin is a piece of art in its own right, cast from a cacao pod sculpted in clay rather than being computer designed, it is in tune with the artisan nature of the chocolate, in which the use of hundred year old traditional chocolate making machines is still key. Willie also makes the caramel himself -caramelising raw cane sugar, clarifying the butter and adding Devon double cream.
