The Mews, Mosman
If you’ve been to Mosman in recent times, there’s a good chance you would have swung past one of the suburb’s most relaxed little cafes, The Mews.
Located in a cosy laneway in Mosman Square, The Mews is an impressive spot that boasts a healthy yet delicious menu inspired by a fusion of authentic Asian and modern Australian flavours. They have just unleashed their new Autumn menu which is filled with a range of new masterpieces to try.
The menu is seriously unique – I mean, where else in Sydney will you find Crabs In Black? With soft shell crab, salmon caviar, chive, charred sweet corn, finger lime, chervil, celery, chilli, fried egg, black aioli, and brioche, it’s certainly something different.
Other new dishes include the Grilled Peche (Peach) with baby wild rocket, chilli mango emulsion, pistachio dukkah, prosciutto, soft boiled egg, and soy linseed toast, the Piggs Benedict featuring eight-hour slow braised pork, smashed peas, kim-chi, poached egg, pumpkin, soy linseed, and sriracha hollandaise, and the Poke Bowl with miso flavored salmon, black rice, edamame bean, pickled mushroom, avocado, and ponzu beurre blanc.
We love a good Smashed Avo and the one served up here is also a little different than what you’d normally expect. With heirloom tomato, mango, poached eggs, chilli flakes, basil oil and goat curd on soy linseed sourdough, it’s full of colour and equally as full of flavour.
Another dish we recommend highly is the Grilled Halloumi Stack. This one comes with spiced eggplant, heirloom tomato, cucumber, tomato relish, coriander, crispy quinoa, grilled halloumi, green balsamic, poached egg and sourdough toast. Very tasty and very healthy.
For something a little naughtier, the dessert-like Ricotta Hotcake might just fit the bill perfectly. With whipped ricotta, fresh berries, caramelized fig, fairy floss, and maple, this dish is truly spectacular. Visually appealing, full of colour, and highly stimulating for the taste buds.
There’s something quite unique about The Mews and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. For a quality coffee and some amazing dishes to devour, make sure to head on down.
