For the past eight years, Bondi’s Stuffed Beaver has served over 80,000 kilograms of chicken wings and over 150,000 burgers to hungry Sydneysiders. Following on from this success, the North American-style diner has opened a second venue in Sydney’s Lower North Shore.
The new rock ‘n’ roll dive bar in Crows Nest remains true to its Bondi origins utilising a selection of pre-loved bric-a-brac, tables, bar stools and dining parlour booths boasting an intimate and fun atmosphere. There’s even a bit of a retro vibe with classic arcade game machines to play including Double Dragon, Golden Axe and Street Fighter amongst many others.
And if you’re a fan of your sport, you’ll be impressed with the giant 120-inch screen which has been purpose-built to showcase everything from the NFL playoffs, Super Bowl, and all the regular NBA and UFC action throughout the year as well as weekly football action during winter.
While the fit-out is to be admired, the same could be said of the food. As one of the first venues in Sydney to introduce Poutine Fries, the Crows Nest eatery offers an amazing combination of crispy golden fries, covered with gravy and melting cheese. The menu is definitely North American-inspired serving a selection of world-famous Wings, Hot Dogs, and a plethora of Burgers ranging from their trademark Make Americana Great Again beef burger to the John Candy Combo which “may or may not have been the burger that killed him.”
But the BFC (Beaver Fried Chicken) Burger may just be our new favourite with its healthy dose of slaw, tangy chili mayo, and panko-crusted thigh fillet which adds a delectable crunch. It’s absolute heaven in the mouth. There’s even a bit of Mexican flavour with Spicy Fish Tacos and Nachos also available. The ‘Dam Nachos’ come with cheese, jalapenos, sour cream and salsa ranchera on tortilla chips. You could just tell the chips here are homemade as they have that pleasant crispiness to them. Delicious!
There are even vegetarian options including a Mushroom Burger and an outstanding ‘Dam Green’ Salad which comprises of beetroot, rocket, walnut, fetta, and pumpkin seeds dressed in vinaigrette. And if you enjoy a tipple, you’ll be inspired by the extensive beverage menu spanning cold craft beers, ciders, wines and bespoke cocktails, including the renowned Stuffed Beaver Bloody Caesar (the Canadian version of a Bloody Mary) as well as the world famous Beaver Tea, a take on the classic long island iced tea.
The Stuffed Beaver is a great diner-style eatery to check out when you’re next in Sydney’s Lower North Shore. We totally got stuffed at the Stuffed Beaver and we recommend you do too.
