One of the busiest staircases in Sydney’s CBD has had a festive makeover with three six-foot sand sculptures, created to bring a “White Christmas” to life at the MLC Centre over the next few weeks.
Created by World Champion sand sculptor, Dennis “Sandman” Massoud, the Christmas sculptures located on the Martin Place stairs are part of the MLC Centre’s annual Christmas display.
The sand sculpture creations; two Christmas castles and a Santa Claus surrounded by gifts, took five days to sculpt and are made up of over 5000kgs of sand.
The sand sculptures will be lit up each night together with the City of Sydney’s initiative to light up the CBD with a spectacular Christmas installation. The pre-programmed full-colour light show will light up the MLC Centre as one of Sydney’s iconic buildings along with, Town Hall House, Citi Building and Galleries to name a few. Each night the light show will take effect from 6pm through to midnight.
The Christmas sand sculptures will be on display until Friday, 16th December whilst the City of Sydney light installation will be on display until January 3 2017.
