Wild Sage Cammeray

Wild Sage Cammeray

We recently took a trip over the Harbour Bridge to experience one of the lower North Shore’s must-visit restaurants.

Wild Sage Cammeray is a modern Australian restaurant-café known for their mouth-watering menu, great ambience and their curated selection of wine, cocktails, smoothies and fresh fruit juices. The venue is open from sunrise to sunset offering an extraordinary breakfast, lunch and dinner menu.

We visited late on a Saturday and got to sample some of the amazing food from the dinner menu. The owners have designed a unique menu consisting of seasonal ingredients and quality produce, ensuring there is something to satisfy everyone’s taste buds.

There are share plates ranging from chilli pulled pork slider buns right down to raw veggie platters. We opted to start with the seared scallops with parsnip puree, crispy seaweed, chilli aiole & crispy katafi and the vodka beetroot cured ocean trout with creme fraiche, heirloom beetroot & horseradish. These were absolutely beautifully presented and were as pleasing to eat as they were to look at. They were also very light on the stomach leaving plenty of room for the mains that were to follow.

There are a plethora of main options to choose from. There’s the twice cooked roasted pork belly, marinated lamb cutlet, Wagyu striploin, 21 day dry aged rib eye, slow cooked giant Angus beef, fish & chips, and more. We tried the Fish Special – pan fried barramundi with roasted cauliflower, onions, charlotte, farro & beetroot creme. Another beautifully presented dish that was full of flavour and pleasing to the palate.

There are also plenty of Pasta & Risotto options for lovers of spaghetti, linguini, pappardelle and gnocchi. We sampled the linguini with spanner crab meat, tiger prawns, spinach, cherry tomato, confit onion & spicy napolitana. A great mix of flavours, full of colour, and just scrumptious. The venue were also gluten-friendly and happy to substitute the linguini with penne – perfect for those with a gluten intolerance.

We couldn’t escape without at least sampling a dessert. Options include tiramisu, pudding, cake, and gelato but we went for the affogato (vanilla drizzled with espresso coffee). We added Frangelico to the mix and it was just heaven in our mouths.

As for the venue itself, the decor is inviting, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is delicious. If you can’t make it for dinner, Wild Sage offer plenty of breakfast options too. Everything from pea and sweet corn fritters with bacon to crunchy cornflakes covered brioche French toast with mix berry compote, vanilla whipped marscarpone, maple syrup and pistachios. For lunch, there’s fresh locally sourced seafood, handmade pasta’s, burgers, sandwiches and share plates. There’s truly something for everyone.

Wild Sage is open 7 days (7am-10pm) for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
