Encasa Rapido, Westfield Sydney
If you’re looking for a taste of Spain right in the heart of the CBD, you’ll be right “at home” with Encasa Rapido. From the same owners who brought you the famous Encasa Deli, Encasa operates with the vision of providing Sydney with 100% authentic Spanish food – just as you would find on the streets of Spain.
It appears Sydney has fallen in love with the authentic Spanish flavour with Encasa now operating in four different locations – two restaurants and two ‘Rapido’ takeaway locations. We recently ventured over to the Westfield Sydney Rapido hot-spot to see what all the fuss is about.
If you’re a fan of bocadillos (Spanish-style sandwich served on a crusty baguette), you’ll be impressed with the selection available on the Encasa menu. Options include the Pepito (eye fillet medallions, fried egg, cheese, lettuce, tomato, alioli), Pancho (crumbed chicken tenderloin, bacon, cheese, tomato, lettuce, chipotle mayo), Argentino (South American sausage & chimichurri), Canario (roast pork leg, queso fresco with roast capsicum mojo), Boquerones (white anchovies, confit piquillo peppers, roast garlic alioli) and Chorizo (grilled Spanish sausage, roast capsicum, tomato, Spanish onion, alioli). But the highlight for us was the Portugues (spiced grilled chicken, tomato, rocket and herb alioli). You just can’t go wrong with delicious spicy chicken served in a freshly baked crunchy roll.
But it’s not all about the bocadillos. Encasa have recently added a Tapas Box to the menu. This deliciously-flavoured treat includes salad, patatas bravas, calamari and chorizo – everything you need to enjoy a Spanish fiesta for lunch. There are also some appetizing Tapas/Sides to snack on including Croquetas (croquettes), Patatas Bravas (fried potato with spicy tomato & alioli) and Empanadas (Beef South American turnovers, served with chimichurri).
If none of that tickles your fancy, then perhaps one of the salads will be for you. There’s the Jamon (mixed salad with crispy jamon and shaved Manchego cheese), Paco (Spanish style Ceasar with crispy jamon, Cantabric anchovies, Paco’s dressing, shaved) and the De la Casa (mixed salad with Spanish Northern tuna, asparagus, egg and olives).
Encasa Rapido is a great little spot for an authentic Spanish experience. If you’re looking for a cheap CBD eat or some traditional Spanish delights on the go, head over to Westfield Sydney (Level 5) or Chifley Plaza (Level 1). Encasa Rapido is open Monday to Friday (8am-5pm) & Saturday (9am-4pm) at Westfield Sydney and Monday to Friday (8am-3pm) at Chifley Plaza.
