Hello Auntie’s Vietnamese-Inspired Sunday Roast
Modern Vietnamese restaurant, Hello Auntie, has launched its Vietnamese Sunday Roast just in time for the silly season. With locations in Marrickville (offering contemporary Vietnamese flavours in a casual setting) and Darling Square (bringing a modern vision of Vietnamese food with a sleek look), the restaurant offers a personal take on South East-Asian cuisine by blending traditional elements in a modern context.
Known for its ‘new-school’ twist on classic Vietnamese favourites, Hello Auntie’s owner and executive chef Cuong Nguyen has re-imagined the classic Sunday Roast with a Vietnamese twist. For $35 per person, diners receive a feast of smoked lemongrass chicken, juicy roast pork belly, wagyu bo la lot (ground wagyu blade wrapped in betel leaf and grilled over charcoal) and vermicelli sheets with shallot oil and salad leaves.
The roast is made to be eaten in a similar fashion to Hello Auntie’s Goi Cuon – DIY Rice Paper Roll Kit – designed to share with family and friends. Diners are encouraged to “wrap” the meats up in the vermicelli sheets and salad leaves and tuck straight in. A must-try over the coming months and if you’re yet to sample their famous Goi Cuon, then start making plans today! You cannot leave before at least getting a taste of what we consider to be the hero dish on the menu. Packed with lots of flavour, there’s pork belly, bo la lot, lemongrass chicken, peanuts and pickles for you to wrap up and enjoy amongst friends. You also get spring rolls for a tasty treat on the side and if your budget allows, you can even add XL King Prawns to the mix for some extra oomph. Simply delectable!
Other highlights on the menu include their Bo Lac Khoai Tay Chien (mb7+ wagyu cubes, porcini puree, king brown, garlic stem served with a side of hand-cut chips), Thit Heo Kho (triple smoked braised pork belly, fish sauce, caramel glaze, whipped taro), Banh Xeo (crispy coconut turmeric crepe with onion, bean sprout with options to add tofu, chicken, pork, prawn) and the delicious Ca Chem Sot Ca Ri (pan-roasted barramundi, Vietnamese curry, pickled garlic stem, bean sprout and perilla).
There are appetising ‘Feed Me Auntie’ shared banquets available for larger groups, lots of noodle and rice dishes, and with an abundance of gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and vegan options, there’s plenty here for everyone.
