KIM WILDE: Wilde Winter Songbook

Iconic pop singer Kim Wilde has announced the release of ‘Wilde Winter Songbook’ – her first new album in over a decade via Public Opinion Music, distributed through MGM.

The eagerly awaited new album, ‘Wilde Winter Songbook’ is part original songs / part classic Yuletide tunes with Kim’s own unique style stamped firmly upon them. The album features several duets including ‘Winter Wonderland’ with Rick Astley, of which Kim Wilde notes: “I think Rick Astley’s and my voice go perfectly together; like a hot cup of tea and a digestive biscuit!”

Also appearing on ‘Wilde Winter Songbook’ is a new version of ‘Rocking Around The Christmas Tree’ featuring UK heart-throb, Nik Kershaw (the original time Kim Wilde recorded this song, it was with comedian Mel Smith for the first ever ‘Red Nose Day’ in 1987, and it reached #3 on the UK charts).

Kim Wilde encompasses a sense of family spirit during the festive season by collaborating with her husband, actor Hal Fowler, for ‘Burn Gold (Silent Night)’ and with her father, Marty Wilde and brother Ricky, on ‘White Winter Hymnal’, originally made famous by Fleet Foxes.

Kim Wilde was born in Chiswick, West London to legendary 1950’s British Rock ‘n Roll singer, Marty Wilde, and his wife Joyce – a member of the singing group, The Vernons Girls.

Her first single release, ‘Kids In America’ in 1981, was a worldwide hit paving the way for a recording career which yielded ten albums and in excess of 30 singles, bringing success in every major record market and sales of over 30 million respectively.

Kim Wilde and Nik Kershaw have just finished their Australian October tour, performing each of their greatest hits. This was the first time Kim Wilde had toured Australia, since 1994.
