The D’s Bar & Dining: Lunar New Year Menu

Marrickville’s The D’s Bar & Dining is ringing in the Lunar New Year with a very special menu. Created by Executive Chef Lucas Doan – who recently brought to life his childhood dream opening his first restaurant in Marrickville – the new menu will celebrate the Year of the Dragon.

Feast in style in the suburbs and avoid the city crowds with a decadent selection of dishes to share with family and friends.

Doan has added several new dishes to the menu for the annual celebration, including “Red Pocket” steamed Alaskan crab and prawn dumpling ($15), Bossam pork belly leaves with pickles and condiments ($70), Snow Crab with black pepper sauce (market price), a whole Murray Cod butterflied and steamed ‘HK style’ and served with rice paper kit ($95), and a delicious Mapo Tofu king prawn with XO scallop and baby corn ($38).

There’s a limited quantity available for lunch and dinner until 25 February 2024 so pre-order today to secure your favourite dishes. While you’re there, you simply cannot overlook some of the other classics on the menu. Featuring a contemporary Asian selection reflecting Doan’s dual Vietnamese/Chinese heritage, it caters to an eclectic demographic of cultures for which Marrickville and the Inner West is known.

Using only the highest quality ingredients for every dish on the menu, starter highlights include the Hokkaido Scallop, Hiramasa Kingfish, Prawn Toast and Beef Pho Tartar made of Phoenix M8 Wagyu, broth jelly, basil, eschalot and sesame rice cracker.

Other top picks are the Glacier 51 Toothfish with its super delicious white miso caramel, seaweed and chive and the highly addictive Crab Fried Rice featuring Alaskan king crab, corn, egg and supreme sauce making for an irresistible dish that’s just bursting with delicate seafood flavour.

You can’t go wrong with the Papaya Salad either with Thai green mango, peanuts, prawn cracker, Vietnamese mint and chilli or our favourite every time – The Kungpao Mock Chicken – with shallot, chilli and coriander peanut. With the right amount of spice and sweetness combined with its delicious crunch, this one is always an absolute delight.

The D’s also boasts an impressive bar menu with specialty cocktails as well as an extensive selection of wines, and champagne to toast in style. There’s even live music on weekends to enjoy with the delicious food and drink. What more could you want?

The staff here are always super-friendly too so we cannot recommend The D’s Bar & Dining highly enough. For some feel-good vibes and great food, do yourself a favour and add this place to your must-visit list this year.
