Cardly

Cardly thanks Australia’s veterans and their families for their service this ANZAC Day

While ANZAC Day 2021 will be a different experience due to COVID-19 restrictions, handwritten greeting card startup, Cardly will offer Australians the opportunity to thank our veterans and their families for the sacrifices they have made for our country, by allowing Australians to purchase and send thank you cards, with all proceeds going to ex-service organisation Legacy.

Working with Legacy, Cardly is set up to help everyday Australians send a message of support, in the form of a physical card, directly to members of our military community who have sacrificed so much.

The ANZAC Day collection on Cardly features over 20 designs by independent Australian artists such as In The Daylight, Paper Jewel Company and Kay Wolfersperger. Messages of support include kind words such as: “As we reflect on the sacrifices of so many generations before us, we are extremely lucky and grateful for our safety today and always, especially in these challenging times.”

As well as: “Thank you for your sacrifice, for what you gave up to provide a brighter future for generations to come.” Cards are $4 and all profits will be donated by Cardly to Legacy to help support our veterans’ families.

Cardly’s Founder and CEO Patrick Gaskin commented: “We’re thrilled to launch this initiative on a national level with Legacy this year. Many veterans and their families have suffered from separation during COVID. It’s important to honour them for what they’ve done for Australia.”

Legacy NSW CEO John Hutcheson said: “Not only is this an important fundraising initiative for Legacy and our beneficiaries, but it’s also a great way for Australians to thank our veterans and their families for their huge sacrifices.”

Shirley McLaren lost her husband 48 years ago in the Korean War and has been a Legacy beneficiary since. She reflects: “In the early days, when my children were young, Legacy really was a lifesaver. The financial support helped to cover their education costs, and having the family support of a Legatee was very helpful and meaningful. I was and am so appreciative of the assistance we had at that time.

It’s been nearly 50 years! Legacy is a very important part of my social life. The morning teas, lunches, day trips, and activities that are planned are very enjoyable, and they have given me many wonderful friendships over the years. We all value it so much.

Commenting on the Legacy and Cardly initiative, Shirley said:It’s a really lovely idea. 2020 was not very nice, so it’s been even more important to hear from people when we’ve been locked inside.”

Cardly has over 6,000 designs from a global community of independent artists, who earn an industry-leading commission from every sale they make on Cardly. The environmentally-conscious company plants five trees for every 100 cards sold, so a sender can send a nice surprise to someone special, and help protect the planet at the same time.

Cardly send cards to over 50+ countries. All cards are printed on high quality FSC certified paper, and are hand stamped and posted from a Cardly hub (UK, US and Australia) closest to the recipient, helping to speed up delivery whilst reducing the delivery carbon footprint.
