Clovelly Social House
Nestled between tourist hot spots Bondi and Coogee in Sydney’s east is Clovelly Beach. While this hidden gem is a great spot for a quiet swim, the food options in the area are limited in comparison to its louder relatives. Clovelly Social House has stepped right in to change all that with an aim to make it the place to meet, eat, drink and be social. And that’s exactly what we did on our recent visit.
A social dining experience for locals, tourists, family and friends, Clovelly Social House opened in 2017 and has fast become one of the Eastern Suburbs’ go-to destinations for its exceptional food, coffee and warm, friendly ambience. The breakfast offering (available until midday) is a delicious array of morning favourites including eggs, toast and muesli as well as more substantial options such as the Big Bene, Oreo Pancakes, Spicy Corn Fritters, Chefs Breaky, and The Boss’ slow roasted lamb, potato hash, slaw, poached egg, and labna.
On our visit, we decided to give the Mediterranean Breaky a try and certainly weren’t left disappointed. Consisting of poached eggs, avocado, tomato capsicum relish, hummus, kalamata olives, feta, dukkah, and sourdough, we not only found it to be a ridiculously delicious mix, but a healthy one at that. With optional extras including bacon or salmon, we added some salmon to give it that extra kick. Highly recommended!
We also sampled the Vege Breaky featuring two free range eggs, corn fritters, potato hash, roast tomato, mushroom, avocado smash, and rye toast. Yet another fresh and healthy mix which we found to be absolutely scrumptious. We found the portion to be very generous giving you bang for your buck and ensuring you don’t walk out hungry.
While we were too full to stick around for lunch (available after midday), the menu looks equally as delicious with classics such as the Chicken Burger, Vegetable Salad, BLT and Lamb Ragu Pasta. They’re even open for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays (from 6:30pm) with mains including the Beetroot 4-Way with pearl barley risotto, goats curd, honeycomb, the Morroccan Spiced Spatchcock with cauliflower, cous cous, dates, pistachio, coriander yoghurt, preserved lemon and Balinese Marinated Salmon Fillet with broccolini and sautéed baby carrots.
Clovelly Social House is a great venue which you’ll come back to time and time again. And a word of warning: the coffee here is amazing so one won’t be enough. You’ll be going back for seconds – trust us!
