Franca Brasserie, one of the finest additions to the Potts Point dining scene this year, has just unveiled its latest menu. This beautiful restaurant captures the authentic European dining experience in a sophisticated but relaxed setting.
Inspired by the venue’s elegant yet approachable ambience, the new menu features an enticing range of dishes suited to multiple palates and occasions, yet despite their innovation, don’t feel overly trendy in the slightest. To start, there’s Kingfish Tartare, avocado and sturgeon caviar; Heirloom Tomato, and stracciatella tart and bottarga; and Pork, Snow Ear mushroom, black garlic and chipotle – these will delight even the most discerning of taste buds.
For something spectacular, the Smoked Swordfish won’t disappoint. Thinly sliced and served with radish, witlof, and brandade, it’ll melt in your mouth and have you aching for more. Pair it with the refreshing Burrata with lemon, tomato and kalamata olive – Franca’s version of the caprese salad – for the ideal starter. This Italian flag-coloured salad is one of our favourites and will no doubt be a hit over the summer months.
For the mains, it would be hard to resist the Lamb backstrap, piquillo pepper, peas and goats cheese or Corn fed chicken, polenta and charred corn. In addition, meat lovers will savour the Grass fed eye fillet, asparagus, leek with jus, and seafood enthusiasts should make a point of indulging in the House made linguine, king prawns, spanner crab, zucchini, chilli, which is sure to be a signature of the season.
But the John Dory would have to be our top pick. Accompanied with cauliflower, capers and parsley, it’s crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside – simply delectable! The Chicken Salad is also a real hit with grilled vegetables, lettuce and chimichurri. One for the whole family to enjoy.
For dessert, you can take pleasure in the Crème brulée with coconut sorbet and mango or the decadent Valrhona chocolate bar with cherry sorbet to end your night on a high. And if you like a tipple, you won’t run out of options as the wine list is extensive and the cocktail menu enticing with standouts including Summer In Normandy – Pineapple infused Calvados, Orgeat, Bonal Gentiane-Quina, lime juice; Puzzle #2 – Beefeater 24 Gin, mango shrub, Lillet Blanc, lemon myrtle, lemon and egg whites; and the Stone Fruit Bellini – Chandon Blanc de Blancs NV, white peach, apricot puree, apple cider reduction.
