Set on the shores of world famous Manly Beach, The Pantry Manly offers a relaxed coastal atmosphere, with day-to-night seaside dining.
A favourite for locals and tourists alike, The Pantry Manly is known for its modern Australian dishes using fresh local produce. We recently got to sample some of the food at this beautiful venue which features unobstructed panoramic views of Manly Beach. Once you step inside, you’ll walk past inviting leather booths, exposed white brick walls and subtle copper facades for a wooden bar that conveniently stretches across the front of the building.
The menu itself features a smorgasbord of options to satisfy your cravings. With a classic breakfast menu of seasonal fruit plates, buttermilk pancakes and mushroom and gruyere tarts, it upholds its reputation as one of Manly’s top food destinations. Other breakfast options include brioche French toast with spiced poached pear and ginger crystals; and the breakfast board – with a mixed selection of San Daniel Prosciutto, Duroc Jamon Serrano and truffled salami, chargrilled capsicum and poached eggs.
The lunch and dinner menu is equally as impressive. On our visit, we ordered the crispy skin Atlantic salmon with walnut and pomegranate salad – an absolute beauty which perfectly hit the spot. The other main we tried was the Fresh Barramundi fillet – this one came with fries, lemon & tartare sauce and a garden salad. If you like your seafood, you won’t leave disappointed trying either of these finger-licking good dishes.
Other favourites on the menu include organic New Zealand venison with a mushroom duxelle, Rib eye steak (42 days dry aged), and a host of other options from the farm. There are also pasta dishes, tapas, and some raw items to choose from as well. We tried the raw Hiramasa kingfish sashimi. It came with cucumber, chorizo crumble, radish, fresh lime and herbs. This one won’t fill you up so works as the perfect starter – it was perhaps the highlight dish and we unsurprisingly polished the plate clean.
We were too full to try any of the delicious-looking desserts on offer – classic pavlova, banoffe pie, lime & passionfruit cheesecake, dark chocolate & espresso mousse, and affogato – but we decided to finish up with a cocktail. Those who fancy a tipple can choose from a concise, well-curated wine list, enjoy a refreshing beer, or opt for a cocktail like we did. We went for the Black Forest Gateau Martini which comprised of Smirnoff Red vodka, Cherry brandy, Maraschino liqueur, Mozart Dark, G.E. Massenez Creme de Cacao and Cream. A beautiful mix which was very strong yet highly pleasant on the palate.
If you find yourself in Manly anytime soon, The Pantry Manly is an absolute must visit. The venue is located at Ocean Promenade, North Steyne, Manly, and is open 7 days (7am to 10:00pm).
