Bar Lucia’s Bottomless Lunch Weekends in Potts Point

Sydneysiders looking for a taste of Spanish cuisine and culture need to stop everything and head to Bar Lucia in Potts Point.

Bar Lucia captures the charm of Madrid’s streets, intertwining elegant architecture with nature-inspired motifs, creating an atmosphere that effortlessly channels the laid-back vibe of Spain. The unique venue combines the allure of a European Patisserie, the passion of a Latin Bomboneria, and the freshness of a wine shop and bodega-deli.

Bar Lucia embraces Spanish cuisine and culture through elegant architecture combined with a carefully curated wine list and tapas inspired menu. Injecting the laid-back air of Spain in a feminine and seductive atmosphere, Bar Lucia is reminiscent of the bars of Madrid.

This hot-spot for locals and those ‘in-the-know’ has recently partnered with Grey Goose for a decadent Bottomless Lunch every Saturday and Sunday. The offering features a tempting tapas-style menu complemented by the sophistication of the Grey Goose Spritz range. Discerning diners can experience the essence of Spanish indulgence in every sip and bite. The carefully curated menu features exquisite dishes with highlights including Txistorra a la Sidra (a delicious cured sausage cooked in cider with shaved Spanish Manchego cheese and green herbs) and Pulpo a la Brasa (an incredibly tasty barbecued octopus with capsicum sauce, radicchio and olives).

The menu also features the more traditional Tortilla de Patatas (Spanish tortilla with jamón, crispy ibérico and truffle aioli), the hot Pimientos de Padrón (Padron peppers) that really pack a punch, as well as a few other surprises which may have you licking your plate clean like we did on our visit.

Bar Lucia International Women’s Day Menu

With a strong female team at the helm, Bar Lucia will feature a menu inspired by iconic Spanish star Penélope Cruz for International Women’s Day on Friday 8 March 2024. Each dish will be a delicious nod to a curated selection of films starring Penélope Cruz.

The ancient heirloom tomato gazpacho/oil threesome (charcoal, tarragon and chilli) is inspired by the 2008 comedy romance Vicky Cristina Barcelona; the Jamon Serrano Duroc Gran Reserva 18 months, a tribute to the 1992 comedy romance Jamón Jamón; while the octopus carpaccio/braised potato mousse/nduja oil/fenneland mint salad, a reference to Abre los ojos (“Open Your Eyes”), the 1997 psychological thriller.

The culinary cinematic adventure continues with mains including a seafood paella featuring squid ink, calamari, mussels, prawns and scallops, or there is a pork belly paella with morcilla, capsicum in a romesco sauce. The vegetarian menu is equally artistic with highlights such as the stuffed padron peppers with Meredith goat cheese, romesco and smoked almonds – a nod to the 2012 Italian feature Venuto al mondo (“Twice Born”). A tasty inclusion too is the bbq figs, quince, fennel fronds with mandarin olive oil and pepper inspired by 2019’s Dolor y gloria (“Pain and Glory”). The vegetarian paella features saffron, wild mushrooms, green olives, artichoke and arugula rocket. Dessert is a must with Crema Catalana, with strawberries and pepper, and a flan with manchego cheese, mandarin olive oil, balsamic reduction.

The menu will be complemented by wines from MEREDITH – a boutique wine label that produces natural wines and drinks from various regions across Australia. The Penélope Cruz inspired menu ($89 per person, minimum of two people) will be exclusively available only on Friday 8 March 2024 in celebration of International Women’s Day.
